Ellwood Group Inc. (EGI) has completed the acquisition of the assets of Chrome Crankshaft Company LLC, located in Joliet, Illinois

The assets were acquired by the newly formed subsidiary of EGI named ELLWOOD Chrome Crankshaft Company (ECC). ECC will retain the branding of the former Chrome Crankshaft for marketing purposes. ECC will be integrated into and managed by the ELLWOOD Crankshaft Group (ECG).

Chrome Crankshaft provides crankshaft hard chrome plating and reconditioning services primarily supporting the North American Locomotive aftermarket today. ECC currently has 14 employees producing +600 crankshaft repairs annually. The principle assets of Chrome Crankshaft include, chrome plating tanks, crankshaft grinders, crankshaft balancer and sub arc welder among other key equipment to support crankshaft reconditioning.

This acquisition will allow ECG to expand its surface engineering technologies into hard chrome plating and sub arc welding while significantly strengthening its position in the global crankshaft markets by offering further value add and expertise to the lifecycle of our crankshaft supply.

Tyler Kissick has been named the General Manager of ECC as well as ENCS located in Hermitage, PA which will have a heavy focus on remanufacturing and unit exchange of aftermarket crankshafts. Tyler was previously the Director of Sales and Marketing for ELLWOOD National Crankshaft and has worked for ELLWOOD for the past 6 years. Tyler and his family will relocate to the Joliet area effective immediately.
