This is to announce that Rachel Lukas is the winner of the ninth annual ELLWOOD Group, Inc. Metallurgy Scholarship. She is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh and is majoring in Material Science and Engineering; Rachel carries a 3.36 GPA.
The scholarship award ceremony will take place at the University of Pittsburgh during the 1st Quarter of 2016. Along with Brendan Connolly, EQS Operations Engineer, the scholarship award will be presented to Rachel by Marie Russo, EGI Director of Human Resources. Rachel will complete an internship at an ELLWOOD business unit during the summer of 2016.
Rachel possesses previous internship experience working as a Process Engineer. She provided metallurgical and metallographic support for a new alloy’s process development, as well as performed other research and development projects. Rachel is self-driven and possesses a raw enthusiasm for metallurgy.
EGI will also award $5,000 scholarships to Jacob Wolfman and to Alex Roach, who were finalists for the scholarship. Jacob is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh and is majoring in Material Science and Engineering. Jacob interned with North American Forgemasters (NAF) during the summer of 2015 and will be returning in January 2016 to intern at NAF. Alex is a junior at the University of Alabama and is majoring in Metallurgical and Material Engineering. He also was offered an internship within ELLWOOD during the summer 2016.
All three students were provided with tours of ELLWOOD’s manufacturing facilities in New Castle, PA and had the opportunity to meet and speak with several of the Company’s metallurgists, engineers and other representatives.
