$25,000 Metallurgy Scholarship 2010 Winner Announced

This is to announce that Lauren Skrabski of Hickory, PA is the recipient of the fourth annual ELLWOOD Group, Inc. $25,000 Metallurgy Scholarship. She is in her junior year at Penn State University in University Park, PA. Lauren is majoring in Material Science and Engineering and carries a 3.55 GPA. She is Secretary of the Penn State Chapter of Material Advantage.The scholarship award ceremony will take place at Penn State in February 2011. Along with Charles Fryman, Metallurgist at ELLWOOD Quality Steels, and Mark Gratkowski, Project Engineer at ELLWOOD City Forge, Marie Russo, Benefits and Human Resources Manager at EGI, will present the award to Lauren.Lauren will be scheduled to complete an internship within an ELLWOOD business unit in 2011. Her academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and strong interest in a career in the steel industry make her a worthy recipient of the scholarship.EGI will also award $1,000 scholarships to both Lance Taylor and David Hengst, who were finalists for the scholarship. Lance is a junior at Michigan Technological University. He is majoring in Material Science & Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. David is a junior at Missouri University of Science & Technology. He is majoring in Metallurgical Engineering.All three finalists were provided with tours of ELLWOOD’s manufacturing facilities in New Castle, PA and had the opportunity to speak with several of the Company’s metallurgists, engineers and other representatives.
