This is to announce that Colin Galey of Gibsonia, PA is the winner of the fifth annual ELLWOOD Group, Inc. $25,000 Metallurgy Scholarship. He is a junior at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Colin is majoring in Material Science and Engineering and carries a 4.0 GPA. He was the Secretary of the Undergraduate Materials Society and is a member of the National Society of Colligate Scholars and Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honors society.

Colin is a worthy recipient of the scholarship due to his strong interest in the steel industry and his academic achievement. The scholarship award ceremony will take place at Case Western Reserve in January 2012. Colin is scheduled to complete an internship at ELLWOOD City Forge in 2012.

EGI will also award $1,000 scholarships to both Brian LaQua and Kendra Gagliano, who were finalists for the scholarship. Brian is attending the University of Wisconsin at Madison and is majoring in Material Science & Engineering. Kendra is a junior at Penn State University and is majoring in Material Science Engineering.

All three finalists were provided with tours of ELLWOOD’s manufacturing facilities in New Castle, PA and had the opportunity to speak with several of the Company’s metallurgists, engineers and other representatives.
