ELLWOOD Promotes Carrie B. Rust to Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

Effective April 1, 2020, ELLWOOD is pleased to announce the promotion of Carrie B. Rust as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of ELLWOOD reporting to the CEO of the company.  Carrie will replace the retiring Pamela K. Vass.  

As Carrie moves from her current role as Vice President of Human Resources (HR) and assumes the role of CHRO, she will continue Pam’s work to lead the HR function and initiatives across the organization.  Carrie’s responsibilities include facilitating positive employee relations in a union-free environment, compensation and benefits, payroll, recruitment and onboarding, training and development, succession planning, and evaluating and integrating strategic acquisitions. 

Carrie began her career as a programmer at U.S. Steel’s Fairless Works and was promoted to supervisor of Business Systems and later to Information Technology Training & Recruiting Supervisor.  She spent the next eight years in U.S. Steel’s Health & Welfare Benefit division eventually becoming Director.  Her final years at U.S. Steel were as Director of Organization Development and Diversity & Inclusion.  In February of 2014, Carrie joined ELLWOOD as Director of Human Resources with a focus on benefits and employee relations.  She was promoted to Vice President of Human Resources in June of 2019.

Carrie has served for several years on the Pittsburgh Business Group on Health’s Board of Directors and has been a keynote speaker for several benefit and wellness conferences. 

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Grove City College, a Master of Education from Pennsylvania State University, and an Executive Certificate in Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership from Georgetown University.

Carrie and her husband, Bradley, reside in Wexford, PA and have a son and a daughter.
