On January 7th, 2008, ELLWOOD National Steel crews achieved full design production of its recently commissioned Ladle Furnace by producing eight prime heats of forging quality ingots in 12 hours. Non-LMF capacity was a maximum of six heats per 12 hours. This is a significant milestone considering that this benchmark was achieved less than one month after the full commissioning of the ladle furnace and associated support equipment.
The successful start-up of the equipment is directly attributed to the dedication and commitment of the ENS employees and associated engineering staff of ENS/EQS to doing it right. This LMF operation expands ENS’s product range and capacity to meet customer’s expectations in today’s strong forging ingot market.
