ELLWOOD is committed to outstanding levels of performance in protecting our team members as one of our core values. The preservation of our team member's lives is the most important measure of success, and we can never rest in our vigilance. We strive to continuously improve and excel in our Health and Safety responsibilities.
At ELLWOOD, our goal is to not just comply with industry standards, but to exceed them. To achieve this, we are committed to adopting and implementing the core elements of OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). These four elements help ELLWOOD to focus our efforts and achieve our goal of zero workplace injuries.
- Management Leadership and Team Member Involvement
- Worksite Analysis
- Hazard Prevention and Control
- Training
Embracing the elements of VPP encourages each ELLWOOD facility’s management and team members to collaborate not only internally but cooperatively with OSHA. ELLWOOD Crankshaft and Machine, ELLWOOD National Crankshaft, and ELLWOOD Specialty Steel have all achieved VPP STAR Status, recognizing exemplary achievement in the ongoing prevention and control of occupational safety and health hazards. Other ELLWOOD facilities continue to strive for STAR status by garnering team member involvement to focus on areas such as housekeeping, machine guarding, hazard communication, and material handling. These safety teams continue to help identify hazards and develop solutions for a safer and healthier workplace.
